RV hire in the UK

The term RV is used in the United States as an abbreviation of recreational vehicle. In the UK when we talk about an American RV we really do mean a very large recreational vehicle with slide outs and massive gas guzzling petrol engines. Although these vehicles are available for hire in the UK we don’t have many in our fleet at the moment. There are a couple of reasons for this. The first is the fact that it is very expensive to get insurance for a hirer and secondly the fact that the roads in the UK are not particularly suitable such large vehicles. Having said that we do have a few that are used for special events like motor racing meetings, staff accommodation at festivals or just somebody who needs a very large motorhome for a corporate event.

If you are from the States and are not familiar with some of the small winding roads that we have here count you may want to consider something smaller, possibly much smaller, than you would consider using for a RV rental vacation in the United States. Especially if you are heading down into the South West of England or Wales or maybe some remote parts of Scotland you may be surprised how narrow the loan to get. For this reason, we would suggest that you should consider using a smaller motorhome where you were still get a good level of luxury, but will still be able to drive, manoeuvre and park anywhere you like. In the UK most camping grounds are more suited for vehicles that are a maximum of about 30 foot long. There are not usually any hard and fast rules, but some camping grounds may insist that you pay for two spaces if you turn up with an enormous American RV. We have also heard some reports of campsites in the south of France where they simply do not allow such large vehicles.

If you are considering doing any reasonable amount of touring around you may be surprised that the price of fuel whether it be petrol or diesel is much more expensive than it is in the US. For this reason we would suggest using a smaller and more economical motorhome. There are plenty to choose from, after you have made your initial enquiry we will get in touch with you by email, or by phone if you wish, and we can work out the best motorhome for your needs.

If you are arriving from overseas by air you will be happy to know that there is a large hire depot at Heathrow airport as well as a hire depot in Scotland that is just a few miles from Edinburgh. Other airports are taken care of with the network of private motorhomes available in our private motorhome hire network. So it doesn’t matter if you are arriving in the UK at Gatwick, Luton, Stansted, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow or any other major airports we can still sort your motorhome hire out. If needed, an optional airport transfer service is available providing transportation from the airport to your motorhome.
