Motorhome hire in Europe

It is fair to say that there are plenty of companies offering motorhome hire in Europe, with France, Spain and Italy being the most popular ones. There are companies offering campervan hire in Calais, well nearish to Calais.  But before you start Googling away to find some cheap campervan hire company in the middle of nowhere, think carefully. How are you going to get there? If you are going to fly abroad will the company be happy to meet you at the airport and take you to your motorhome? If you are going to drive there, will you feel comfortable leaving your own car in some unknown field or industrial estate?

You might find that companies operating near airports charge a much higher price than ones in rural areas. If you are going to drive your own car over to Europe, will there be somewhere safe and secure where you can park your car for the duration of your motorhome holiday? Here we are totally biased as we have a completely UK based hire fleet, but we do honestly believe that rather than looking for motorhome hire in Europe, you take one from the UK on a ferry.

We always like to say that your motorhome holiday starts when you put the key in the ignition and this is so true when you are thinking about going to Europe. That way you can load up at home with all the things you are going to need for your holiday and set off. You can even take food supplies to keep you going for the first few days so that you don’t spend your first few days f your holiday trying to find everything you want in foreign supermarkets. Dealing with a company that speaks English and abides by British law is always going to be an advantage should you run into any difficulties (most people don’t) when you are abroad. We will provide you with a 24 hour UK based ‘help line’ phone number, so that if you have any queries there will be a friendly voice on the end of the phone ready to help, however serious or trivial your enquiry.

Taking your motorhome to Europe is surprisingly inexpensive too. Most people opt for the popular Dover Calais route to get to France quickly, but do also consider the Dover Dunkirk route too. The Dover Dunkirk route is operated by the superb DFDS Seaways and offers fantastically low prices for cars and motorhomes, do check them out. Since the beginning of 2012 DFDS also operate the Dover Calais route (since the demise of SeaFrance), at the time of writing they are matching their prices with the Dover Dunkirk route, but do be aware that there are not as many sailings on the Calais route at the moment. Dealing with a UK company with over 10 years experience of motorhome hire obviously makes a lot of sense rather than picking some random people doing campervan hire in Europe online.

When you get your motorhome hire quote, do tell us that you are going abroad and we will advise you on the best one to hire. If you require a left hand drive vehicle, we can supply one. However most drivers from the UK only tend to find left hand drive useful when overtaking, which in a motorhome you do not do too often.
